Talks end in stalemate

After more than ten hours of talks at Hillsborough, it appears the Taoiseach and the British Prime Minister have made little progress in bridging the gap over policing and decommissioning.

During the day, the parties met in face to face meetings and round table talks but both republicans and unionists seem to be agreement at the lack of progress made today.

This morning's pledge by the IRA to engage with the decommissioning body was dismissed by unionists, saying the IRA must make concrete steps and they won't buy into empty promises.

Meanwhile, Sinn Fein's Pat Doherty accused David Trimble of political apartheid by excluding their two ministers.
