Return Esat donations, Labour tells coalition

Labour has called on Fianna Fail and the PDs to return a £50,000 donation each party received from Esat Telecom chairman Denis O'Brien.

Labour has called on Fianna Fail and the PDs to return a £50,000 donation each party received from Esat Telecom chairman Denis O'Brien.

It is pending an inquiry into the granting of a mobile phone licence.

The Dail Committee on Public Enterprise investigation began after it emerged a similar donation was made to Fine Gael while they were in government at the time the licence was given.

That donation, which is now being probed by the Moriarty Tribunal, was never cashed.
