Fears that infected sheep are in the Republic

There are fresh fears that some of the sheep suspected of having foot and mouth disease in the North could have crossed the border into the Republic.

The North's Agriculture Minister, Brid Rodgers, has announced 20 sheep on a farm in South Armagh have been slaughtered.

It is reported the sheep have signs of the virus. But test results won't be available for three or four days.

The sheep were imported through Carlisle, England where an outbreak has been confirmed.
