One of the teenagers shot dead on Bloody Sunday gave his mother money for her birthday as he set off on the ill-fated civil rights demonstration that day, his sister said today.

The claim was made by Mary Bonner, whose brother Hugh Gilmour, 17, was one of 13 men killed when Army Paratroopers opened fire in Londonderry’s Bogside district on January 10 1972.
