Man murdered outside Cavan hotel

A murder investigation has been launched in Co Cavan following an incident outside a hotel in Crosskeys early this morning.

A security man in his 30s, working at the Carrick Springs Hotel in the town, was fatally injured after being hit by a car shortly after midnight.

The dead man has not yet been named but it is believed that he was local.

His body has been taken to Cavan general hospital.

A 39-year-old man was arrested 30 minutes after the incident. He currently being held at Cavan Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justices Act.
