Finucane family stand firm on inquiry demand
The family of murdered Belfast lawyer Pat Finucane has told the British and Irish governments that their demand for a full inquiry should not be bargained over in the continuing discussions on policing.
The Finucanes are insisting that nothing less than a legally-constituted inquiry, with powers to compel witnesses, will uncover the truth.
They have promised to take every legal measure available to them under European law if the British Government refuses their demand.
Solicitor Pat Finucane, who represented a number of republican clients, was shot dead by the UDA in 1988.
