Sinn Fein says it’s prepared to work with the Patten proposals on policing in the North on the basis that, if implemented fully, it could provide the opportunity to build a new civic police service.

However, speaking in Dublin last night, Martin McGuinness said the gap between the British Government’s proposals and the Patten recommendations, are still significant.
