Ahern to reintroduce leaders questions

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has told the Dail that the leaders questions issue is being discussed by the Dail Reform Committee.

The key committee is currently examining how best to ensure the leaders of the main opposition parties can ask topical questions of the Taoiseach after the facility was withdrawn last week by the Ceann Comhairle.

"As the Ceann Comhairle suggested last week, it would be his preference that this committee would bring forward the standing order and that would be my view. We should work hard to bring forward this committee and this issue," said Mr Ahern.
