500 new jobs are to be created in a Dublin-based US computer chip manufacturing firm.

Xilinx Ireland, which is based in the City West Business Park in south Dublin and currently employs 360 people, is expanding in a 40m IDA-backed development.

The company designs and produces semi-conductor chips and software tools.

The latest jobs are targeted at the high end of the research and development sector and the vacancies will be filled over the next three to five years.
