A 13-month-old baby boy has died in hospital while his mother remains seriously ill following a house fire in Bray.

Investigators believe the blaze broke out in the back bedroom of the child's house in Oldcourt Avenue around 10am yesterday morning.

Firefighters rescued a number of occupants from the house, including three children whose ages range from three to 17.

The baby and his mother were discovered in an upstairs bedroom, and were taken to Loughlinstown Hospital.

The boy was then transferred to Crumlin Hospital, where he died this morning.
