Four Irish remanded in custody on bomb-making charges

Four Irishmen charged with making a pipe bomb following a dawn raid in west London have been remanded in custody.

The court was adjourned for over two hours, after one of the men collapsed.

35-year old Robert Lee slumped forward and banged his head on the dock just 10 minutes into the proceedings at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court.

Lee was appearing with 45-year old Patrick Gallagher, 29-year old Patrick Dunne and Alan McGovern, 32.

The four were arrested after anti-terrorist officers stormed a London house and recovered potential bomb parts in the raid on Thursday in Ealing.

The court was adjourned for over two hours, while an ambulance was called for Lee.

Lee, McGovern and Gallagher were remanded in custody to appear at Bow Street Magistrates Court on February 12.

Dunne was remanded in custody at Paddington Green police station to appear at Bow Street Court on Monday.

A fifth man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed to return to a central London police station in March.
