Call for inquiry into prison transfer security
Labour's justice spokesperson Brendan Howlin has called on the Minister for Justice to order an inquiry into the breakdown of security procedures for transporting prisoners.
Deputy Howlin's comments follow the escape of two prisoners from custody in the past 10 days.
He said the apparent lack of communication between the gardai and the prison service should also be investigated.
Minister O'Donoghue holds full political responsibility for these issues, he said.
