Taoiseach speaks with Northern Secretary

The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has spoken with the new Northern Secretary Dr John Reid this evening.

The Fianna Fail leader said he wished Dr Reid well in the post, adding he hoped to discuss the specifics of the position within the near future.

The Taoiseach also stated that he is immensely looking forward to working closely with John Reid as he has done with previous Northern Secretaries.
