Controlled explosion carried out on Limerick bomb

A controlled explosion is taking place on a suspect device found in Limerick City.

The gardai were alerted to the device found by a member of the public in a shop doorway.

Thomas St has been closed to both pedestrians and motorists in an operation co-ordinated by Henry St garda station.

The Emergency Response Unit arrived from Cork City a short while ago and are using a robot to examine the device
