Witness remained in Gilligan's employ after Guerin's death
State supergrass Russell Warren told the Special Criminal Court today that he continued to collect drugs money for John Gilligan after the Veronica Guerin murder.
Warren also conceded he only told gardai he witnessed the murder almost a year after the killing when things "started to get on top of him".
Warren earlier told the court how Gilligan threatened to kill him if he told anyone what he had seen.
But the state witness admitted that, after taking a holiday in Turkey following the murder, he continued to take money to Holland and Belgium for the accused.
Warren said he first thought it was the proceeds of cigarettes but then realised it was from the sale of drugs.
Warren was first arrested in connection with the murder in October 1996, when he denied being at the scene of the killing. He returned to gardai in May of the following year to tell them the full truth, he said today.
Gilligan's defence team will continue to cross-examine the witness tomorrow.
