Plans for Dublin Airport to be revealed

The future plans for Dublin Airport will be unveiled later this morning.

The announcement comes as Aer Rianta continues a massive investment in the airport and follows the recent rejection of Ryanair's plan for a second terminal.

The old arrival and departure facilities have doubled in size as the country's busiest airport struggles to handle some 13 million passengers.

Expansion work is now almost a permanent feature at the airport and today Aer Rianta will unveil its latest plans to keep the facility up with the changing times.

They have taken on an even greater importance following the recent rejection by the Government of Ryanair's plan for a second terminal specifically for low-fare carriers.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers continues to increase.

This month saw new routes to Britain's regional airports, giving Dublin more connections to the British regions than Heathrow or Gatwick.
