The swim, organised by Myrtleville Swimmers, was held to promote blood donations and to raise funds for the Children's Unit in Cork University Hospital.

Swimmers took to the water at 12 midday yesterday and afterwards enjoyed nibbles on the beach.

On the day, the special requirement of fancy dress was met with swimmers making the extra effort to become gory characters for the event.

Videographer Larry Cummins went along to capture the action from the annual event at Myrtleville.

You can donate blood by contacting the Blood Bank to make an appointment. For more information click here.
