Herstory: Eight Cork women celebrated with portraits projected onto council buildings

Portraits of Eliza Lynch (wife of a former Paraguayan president), astronomer Agnes Clerke, Dr James Barry, aid worker Mary Elmes (who saved thousands of Jewish children during WWII), soprano Rita Lynch, mathematician Alicia Boole Stott and novelist Edith Somerville were illuminated onto Council buildings on Carrigrohane Road for the weekend.

The project was coordinated by the Herstory movement who have worked with 37 historians from across the UK and Ireland and is geared at bringing the lost stories of historic Irish female figures to prominence.
