Man jailed over false statement on crash

The son of a murdered Limerick crime boss was jailed yesterday for giving a false statement to gardaí about a serious car accident in which a woman in her 80s was knocked down and badly injured.

Kieran Keane, aged 26, a father of two from Claughaun Avenue, Garryowen, was a front seat passenger of the car involved in the accident which occurred near St John’s Cathedral.

Along with the driver, Keane fled the scene.
