Man, 30, jailed for sex with teen girl

A 30-year-old man used Facebook to communicate with a girl half his age until the relationship progressed to meeting, kissing, and ultimately having sexual intercourse three times over a weekend at his home.

Yesterday, he was jailed for a year for defilement of a child. Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin imposed a two-year sentence on the accused with the second year suspended.

The judge said the prison governor should be notified of background reports identifying the accused as a suicide risk.
