Robber on bail went on holiday

A store security man awaiting sentencing for two robberies carried out two further robberies — one in Midleton and the other in Youghal — and also squeezed in a fortnight’s holiday in Turkey with his girlfriend.

Sgt Kieran O’Sullivan gave evidence yesterday at Cork Circuit Criminal Court where Andy Kelly was jailed for three years for his crimes and had a further three years suspended.

Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin noted the submissions made by defence senior counsel Tom Creed that Kelly had a serious gambling addiction.
