The first steps towards the setting up of the promised Public Service Pay Commission will be discussed at Cabinet today.

The move comes amid increasing demand by workers for pay rises, including among gardaí and teachers.

Public Expenditure Minister Paschal Donohoe is expected to bring the memo to colleagues today, which will set out the terms for the new commission.
