Domestic and foreign holiday trips increase this year

The number of domestic and foreign trips taken in the first six months of the year has increased compared with 2015, according to data released by the Central Statistics Office.

The Household Travel Survey, released yesterday, reveals that Irish residents took more than 2m domestic trips between April and June of this year — a decrease of 6.5% on the same period last year.

However, the CSO said that the usual quarterly pattern of travel was shifted as a result of Easter falling in March this year.
