Man, 60, stole €1,000 from 79-year-old Good Samaritan

A 60-year-old man has been described as carrying out despicable thefts around the country — particularly one where he stole €1,000 from a 79-year-old woman in Bantry who acted as a Good Samaritan and took pity on him.

Judge John King imposed a total sentence of 13 months on Robert Hunt, aged 60, who is from Wexford and of no fixed address, at Cork District Court yesterday.

Inspector Bill Duane outlined the background to the offences committed by Hunt.
