Pool worker unable to swim

A fitness instructor, whose duties included life-guarding and teaching aqua aerobics, could not swim.

Sinead Ring was sacked after grabbing a sun-bed session without paying and exiting Planet Entertainment Centre in Cork through the fire escape. Her dismissal came two months after her bosses discovered that the instructor could not swim.

The centre operates a small pool at the venue and Ms Ring was immediately taken off “wet duties” such as teaching aqua aerobics and life-guarding the pool in May 2015 and put on cleaning duties after the shock discovery and was issued with a written warning.
