Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin favours a coalition with Labour after the next general election, he has strongly suggested.

However, Mr Martin does not believe an election will be held soon and maintained Fianna Fáil is determined to abide by the three-budget agreement with Fine Gael.

In an interview with the Irish Examiner, Mr Martin opened up the possibility of doing a deal with the Labour party and emphasised how well a previous government with the party had worked.
