Assault accused takes bid for bail to the High Court
Jamie Saunders, of 17 Glentrasna, The Glen, was refused bail at Cork District Court last week after Detective Garda Jim Kearney objected.
Det Garda Kearney said it was alleged that Jamie Saunders rang his uncle, Michael Saunders, and threatened him on July 14. It was further alleged that Jamie Saunders later went to his uncle’s house at Father Dominic Rd armed with a knife, that he knocked on the door, and assaulted Michael Saunders with a car jack, causing a wound to his head that required him to be hospitalised for treatment.
Det Garda Kearney said there was allegedly another incident on June 13 when Jamie Saunders went to the same address in the early hours and allegedly threatened his uncle, kicking in his front door and causing €60 worth of damage.
Jamie Saunders was refused bail last week.
Frank Buttimer, defending, yesterday said his client would be going to the High Court next week in pursuit of bail. The case was adjourned for a fortnight.
Jamie Saunders faces charges of assault causing harm to Michael Saunders on July 14 and causing criminal damage on June 13.Mr Buttimer said these were only allegations.
