Man accused of harassing garda sergeant for 2 years
Sean Carraher, aged 55, of Stradbrook Hill, Blackrock, Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to harassing Sergeant Conor Gilmartin between March 2009 and May 2011.
Sgt Gilmartin told Dublin Circuit Criminal Court he first came into contact with Mr Carraher in 2007 when he was arrested and taken to Shankill Garda Station over an unrelated matter.
Sgt Gilmartin said he started getting calls from Mr Carraher in March 2009. In one call, Mr Carraher allegedly said: “I’m going to expose you and the rest of you lying bastards in that fucking station,” the court heard.
In 2010, Sgt Gilmartin was made aware of a number of messages posted on various websites under the name Sean Carraher.
He said none of the claims made against him online were true.
Damien Colgan, defending, put it to Sgt Gilmartin that on one occasion when Mr Carraher was in custody for an unrelated matter, he shouted at him and called him a “fool”. Mr Colgan also alleged Sgt Gilmartin gave Mr Carraher food in his cell by “making a sound like calling a dog” before laughing .
Sgt Gilmartin denied the allegations.
