Suicide bomber killed in attack near US consulate in Saudi port city

A suspected suicide bomber has died and two officers have been injured in an attack Monday morning near the US consulate in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The attack is said to have coincided with 4th of July celebrations. The man was spotted at 2:15am local time by security officials and a statement by a spokesperson for the interior ministry stated that the man "detonated an explosive belt he was wearing" when questioned by security.
