Paschal Donohoe: State is engaging on Garda pay

A senior minister insists the Government is "engaging extensively" with garda officials over salary levels after frontline members of the force threatened to derail reform plans due to the pay dispute.

Public Expenditure Minister, Paschal Donohoe, defended his party's role in the affair yesterday, just hours after the powerful Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors warned it will not back a five-year reform plan before the issue is resolved.
