The world’s most recognisable Jedi posted a picture of himself with a packet of Mr Tayto’s finest as the crew prepared to finish filming in Kerry to head for a land far far away.
Hamill tweeted the picture and said: “How I will miss IRELAND! Its’ Beauty-Its’ People-It’s... Snack Food (#MagnificentMillie on alert for Ep8DietPolice).”
Mr Tayto Ireland replied: “First there was @EvaLongoria and now @HamillHimself. Their love for my Smokey Bacon makes me an A list celeb?” That was in reference to a picture the Dangerous Housewives star posted a couple of years ago of her with a packet of Tayto Smokey Bacon.
Hamill obviously didn’t feel the full force of concern expressed towards Longoria for daring to opt for Smokey Bacon rather than the firm favourite, Cheese and Onion.
He too came in for abuse for his choice. One user tweeted him saying Hamill “doesn’t realize it, but he’s about to spark a new civil war by eating the wrong kind of Tayto”.
Another tweeted: “@HamillHimself smokey bacon??? Try cheese and onion Mark, cheese and God damn onion!!!! Oh and a nice cup of @BarrysTea.”
Meanwhile, despite a bright summer night in Dingle, the doors of Foxy John’s famous pub remained firmly shut for the Star Wars wrap party.
Black blinds kept preying eyes at bay but the word was out that the most exclusive party in the country was happening within its walls.
Early arrivals to Foxy John’s included members of the production crew, some of them local, who have been working on the Star Wars set in Ceann Sibéal, 10km west of Dingle, over the past few months.
Hamill was expected to arrive at Foxy John’s after 10pm yesterday, though Adam ‘Kylo Ren’ Driver has already left the country. It was not known if Daisy Ridley (Rey) had enough Force left to make it to the wrap party.
