A man’s body was found in a man-made lake on a Cork golf course yesterday morning.

It is understood the man, Maurice Hennigan, who lived locally, was in his mid-60s and had been a member of Lee Valley Golf Club for a number of years.

He had gone out playing on his own early yesterday morning. Shortly before lunchtime, his body was found by ground staff in a lake near one of the holes. Gardaí confirmed they received the call to attend the scene at around 11.45am.
