Sawn-off shotgun ‘found at car passenger’s feet’

A sawn-off shotgun was found at the feet of a passenger in a car being driven from Blarney towards Cork City, it was claimed yesterday as gardaí objected to bail being granted to the defendant in any circumstances.

Det Garda Alan Johnson arrested David Butt, aged 30, of 6 Avonmore Park, Mayfield, Cork, and charged him with having a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition in the car on Friday, April 22.

Det Gda Johnson first outlined the seriousness of the charges by describing the allegations against Mr Butt.
