Gerry Adams has accused Independents of facilitating a “charade” by talking to the two main political parties.

The Sinn Féin leader, whose party has not taken part in talks with either Fine Gael or Fianna Fáil, hit out at the 15 Independents who have been taking part in government formation negotiations with the two main parties.

Speaking outside Leinster House yesterday, Mr Adams also suggested that the terms of an independent investigation into water charges which his party wants to set up, would be set so tight that it would be impossible to recommend water charges.
