Snow ‘landed’ just in time for Kerry Mountain Rescue Team's winter training

The snow landed just in time for the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team — winter training for the voluntary organisation celebrating its 50th anniversary in 1916 had long been scheduled for what is technically the end of Spring.

The non-stop rain, more than 100 days, has marked this winter out as unusual by Kerry mountain standards and until this weekend there was no real opportunity for winter skills training locally.

However, training is essential for the team. Rescue helicopter 117, based in Co Waterford was booked. And right on cue along came the snow.
