Holiday flight forced to divert to Cork Airport

Thomas Cook Airlines flight TCX-26UP was travelling from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Glasgow at the time.
Shortly after 6pm, while the Airbus A321-200 jet was about 200km south of Cork, the crew alerted air traffic controllers to their emergency.
The crew had been in contact with controllers at the Irish Aviation Authority’s North Atlantic Communications Centre in Co Clare.
It’s understood the woman suffered an anaphylactic shock and was reported to be ‘fitting’.
She was cared for by cabin crew while the flight crew headed for Cork Airport.
Ambulance paramedics were standing by when the flight landed at 6.30pm.
Medics quickly boarded the flight where they assessed the woman.
The passenger was removed to Cork University Hospital for treatment.
The flight was able to continue its journey at 7.50pm once the crew had received a new flight plan and the passenger’s baggage had been removed.
