Pair arrested and charged with false imprisonment in Cork city
Det Garda Sharon Sweeney formally arrested the two men by arrangement yesterday morning at Cork District Court.
The case was mentioned again shortly before lunchtime when Judge Leo Malone was told that books of evidence had been served on the two men.
On the application of Insp Finbarr O’Sullivan, Judge Malone sent the cases for- ward to the present sittings of the Central Criminal Court where a date will be set for a trial.
A 42-year-old man was charged with falsely imprisoning the woman and section 4 rape, which relates to alleged rape offences other than by intercourse.
A 33-year-old co-accused was charged with rape, section 4 rape, false imprisonment, and sexual assault.
The complainant is the same in all of the six charges.
No details of the allegations were given in the course of the brief hearing at the court yesterday.
Frank Buttimer, solicitor, represented both accused and there was no application for free legal aid.
There was also no garda objection to the two accused men being remanded on bail to appear before the Central Criminal Court.
Cash lodgements of €5,000 were required and made in each case yesterday.
