Gardaí investigating the murder of a 21-year-old man have made a fresh appeal to eyewitnesses and associates of the killers to contact them.

Detectives believe they are “quite close” to solving the fatal shooting of Dean Johnston in Moorefield estate, Clondalkin, west Dublin, on May 25, 2011, but just need “a little bit more”.

Supt Dermot Mann of Lucan station described the victim as an “ordinary happy-go-lucky” young man who was involved in a “local dispute”.
