Teenager partly severed finger climbing over fence
Mateusz Kacper Kaczynski of Tannery Gardens, off Redemption Rd, Cork, began a civil action yesterday against Cork County Council for compensation at the High Court sitting in Cork.
The plaintiff, now 22, was 17 at the time of the incident on September 11, 2010 .
John O’Mahony, counsel for the plaintiff, explained the teenager had gone to retrieve a football which went over the fence. He then went to climb back over the fence.
A narrow, upright bar in the fence caught a ring on the second finger of his right hand, partly severing and damaging the finger.
Lorraine O’Sullivan, for the council, said there were four entrances to the court . The council denies liability.
