Jail over weapons found in car

A Dubliner travelling as a backseat passenger in a car driven by a Cork heroin dealer admitted giving gardaí a false name and address but denied having anything to do with weapons found in the car.

Judge Olann Kelleher convicted the accused, Mark Pidgeon, in relation to the weapons and jailed him for five months for that at Cork District Court yesterday. He fined him €300 for giving the false name and address, the count to which Pidgeon pleaded guilty.

Pidgeon, aged 25, with an address at 93 Castle Park, Tallaght, Dublin, gave a completely different name and address when gardaí stopped him on September 21, 2014, as he travelled along Western Road, Cork.
