IRELAND

The extra stress in the run-up to Christmas is triggering  “more frequent and, at times, more severe abuse”  of women at the hands of their partners, a leading charity has said.

Paddy Power’s management has said it will not decide on the salary increase of just over 2%level of redundancies  stemming from its near €7bn merger with UK rival Betfair until completion of the deal in the first quarter of 2016.

It could be years before any of the €335m the State  received from IAG for its stake in Aer Lingus is put to use in improving the country’s connectivity, it has emerged.
