FLOODING - VIDEO: West Cork bracing for more flooding over the weekend

The town of Bandon is bracing itself for the possibility of further flooding this weekend as much of the southern region goes on high alert following warnings of more bad weather.

The town engineer for Bandon, Charlie McCarthy, said extra measures were being taken to ensure the area is on full alert ahead of a forecast which promises heavy rainfall on already saturated lands in the area.

Bandon was one of the areas worst affected by Storm Desmond, but during the week the focus shifted to the West, North, and Midlands where even more houses and properties faced the prospect of flooding, particularly areas alongside the River Shannon.
