A homeless family has received a flood of offers for help after an emotional appeal on Cork radio station 96fm.  Mother-of-two Rebecca Dela Vega Heelan described to Deirdre O'Shaughnessy on the show how she walks the streets each day with her husband and three-year-old son while her six-year-old is in school.

A Meath resident stole over €132,000 from a sugar distribution firm to repay €90,000  she had taken from a previous employer to help her family, a court has heard.

A group that advocates drinking bleach to cure illnesses, and conditions  including autism  will not be selling it at its Irish seminar next month, but may teach people how to use it.

SPORT

French newspaper Midi Olympique are reporting that Ronan O'Gara has knocked back a move for him by the IRFU.  According to the report the union wanted O'Gara to replace Les Kiss in the Ireland camp following his move to Ulster.

Well, that escalated quickly. A few months ago Phil Neville was joining Valencia as a first-team coach.  Now he’s temporarily in charge.

BUSINESS

Shannon Group plc, which includes Shannon Airport, has received a significant boost  with the news that a leading worldwide private aircraft charter operator is establishing a base in Co Clare.

Big decisions to be taken at two key meetings later this week could likely shape the future of the Irish economy for years to come.  One is by the European Central Bank and the other is by the Organisation for Petroleum Exporting Countries.

TECH: A new album called 8 Bit Music Power is coming out on the 31st of January and it features some classic  sounding tracks with all the twanging goodness  you expect from Chiptune. The kicker this time is that the album will be available on a cartridge and not just any cartridge - one that will only play in the original Nintendo Famicom which released in Japan in 1983.

SHOWBIZ

Hozier fans rejoice as the crooner will play a free gig this December 3 at St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre  in Dublin..
