Fears banking inquiry is on the brink of collapse

The banking inquiry will hold “crisis” talks this morning amid growing concern the investigation into the banking crisis is on the brink of collapse.

The hastily arranged meeting was agreed yesterday over a growing belief among inquiry members its draft report has too many inaccuracies and evidence gaps to allow them to sign-off on its findings.

The crisis situation emerged after the 11 TDs and senators sitting on the panel for almost a year were given access to a 700-page draft report into their investigation at the start of this week.
