Hundreds gathered at a school in Kilkenny at the weekend to support a local brain tumour survivor as she completed the final leg of a metaphorical cycle to Syria.

Breda Irish, a 20-year-old former student of Scoil Aireagail in Ballyhale, finished the final kilometre of the 5,323km journey on Saturday.

The charity initiative, a show of solidarity with those fleeing the crisis in Syria, saw droves of pupils, past pupils, teachers, parents, and members of the local community take part over the last few weeks.
