Aid agencies and rights groups have accused the Government of shutting them out of efforts to tackle the refugee crisis. They say they have had to put offers of money, accommodation, and expertise on hold because they are not being included in whatever official preparations are belatedly being made. The Cabinet will hold its first full meeting on the issue today.
The Taoiseach is set to hold talks with the SDLP this morning in a bid to save the Stormont Assembly. It has been reported that Enda Kenny has intervened in the dispute - and will meet with a delegation from the SDLP, led by Alasdair McDonnell, to try and persuade them to support the DUP’s call for the Assembly to be adjourned for talks.
Minister for Finance Michael Noonan and the former IMF mission chief to Ireland Ajai Chopra will appear before the Banking Inquiry today. After four months of hearings, today will mark the last day of public business for the Banking Inquiry.
