The Department of Social Protection expects applications for the €100 Water Conservation Grant to increase “significantly” after what has been a relatively slow take-up so far.

Only 159,500 of 770,000 apply for €100 water grant

On August 19, the department, which is administering the grants on behalf of the Department of the Environment, began writing to all households which had registered with Irish Water by June 30 telling them to apply for the grant.

The department said, to date, 770,000 such letters have been delivered. However, by yesterday, just 159,500 applications for the grant had been submitted.
