A Cork teenager is recovering in hospital after falling from the roof of a nightclub in Kinsale at the weekend. Ciara O’Brien, 18, was attending a party at The Moorings nightclub when the accident happened. Her injuries have been described as extremely serious but are not thought to be life-threatening.

The New Beginning group says the "devil is in the detail" of proposed legislation aimed at helping tenants. It has been reported new laws could be put forward preventing banks and receivers from evicting people from buy-to-let properties if they have nowhere else to go.

A father and son rescued after 28 hours trapped in a cave in Co Clare have admitted they did not prepare properly in advance. Patrick Troy and his son Finn spent Saturday night underground after they went caving in Pollnagollum in North Clare.

A member of the Stormont Assembly is echoing comments from the Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams that "the IRA is gone and is not coming back". Gerry Kelly was speaking in light of the controversy which erupted when a PSNI detective last week linked the organisation to the murder of Kevin McGuigan.
