Phoenix Park rail tunnel to reopen after 138 years

The renovation of a 138-year-old railway tunnel under the Phoenix Park will allow commuters from Kildare travel directly into the heart of the Dublin by early next year.

Until now, passengers from Kildare had to alight at Heuston Station on the western fringe of the capital, and make their way several kilometres by other means into the centre.
