An animal rights group has offered a further €5,000 reward for any information on the brutal stabbing and killing of a pet dog in Cork City.

John Carmody, of the Animal Rights Action Network (ARAN), put up the reward yesterday as revulsion spread following the horrific attack on Marvin, a 5-year-old Jack Russell, in the Mayfield area at the weekend.

“It must be accurate information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible,” he said.
